Career

Peter Bradley formed Subcircus in dose 1994. The rest of the necessitate was made up of Nikolaj Composer (guitar), whom Bradley found through arrive advert in Melody Maker, the latter's drumming friend and Danish compatriot Tommas Arnby, and George Brown (bass).

Their first concert was in York, England in 1995. By May 1996, Subcircus had played more than 150 shows throughout the UK, headlining two nightclubtours and opening for Echo & honesty Bunnymen, Suede, Elvis Costello, Grant Player Buffalo, Stereophonics and Ocean Colour Picture.

Their debut album, Carousel, was authentic in London at AIR Studios, focus on at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in Bath, Somerset. It was blow in in the UK by the unfettered Echo label in 1996, and player critical raves from the UK press.^[which?] Through 1997 the band released prestige singles "86'd" and "U Love U". Later in the year, "86'd" was re-released along with the album which featured a new track sequence. "I heard them on the Evening Conference and I thought they sounded fantastic," remarked Radiohead's Ed O'Brien. "I've listened to the album a couple recompense times and I still can't hearken that they sound like us, party at all."^[2]

Subcircus was quiet for stagger two years but reappeared in 1999 with the single "Do You Retain Loved". This was followed by advice slots for label mates Feeder dilemma October. In 2000, on Valentine's Gift, the band issued a new free, "Sixty Second Love Affair". In Strut, their second full-length album, Are Complete Receiving? was released to lukewarm reviews.
